SHOTCRETE
The shotcrete process is truly one of the most versatile processes available for the use of concrete in both new construction and repairs. Shotcrete can be used in almost any concrete project and typically results in a significant savings of time and money. Shotcrete is a process of forcing wet concrete through a hose to adhere to a surface, making it ideal for applying to a vertical face. Compressed air is used to increase velocity to discharge the wet concrete or blow a dry mix where water is added upon discharge.
The following list is a sample of the almost limitless applications for shotcrete.
- Stabilisation of Cliff Faces and Rock Faces
- Tunnelling
- Mining
- Spillways
- Retaining Walls
- Embankments
Earth and rock excavations can be effectively stabilised with shotcrete and a variety of reinforcement and anchoring systems. Using shotcrete to stabilise soil for excavation has advantages over traditional timber and steel shoring techniques. Shotcrete is also ideal for ground support in tunneling and mining. It provides early ground support.
