“BAM Nuttall engaged with Piletec to undertake the installation of 12no OLE Cluster piles consisting of 4no 300mm Dia 13m long SFA Piles installed using a modified Klemm 702 rig. Over the course of the project the works evolved significantly beyond the original scope resulting in a number of issues that without Piletec’s assistance could not have been overcome. BAM used Piletec’s technical expertise to develop viable methodologies within a highly congested worksite with multiple constraints from other contractors and in close proximity to members of the public.

“During March and April of 2020 an alternative piling supplier were tasked with the construction of a new REB Base and an FTN Base construction at Kintbury, near Newbury, in Berkshire. These works to take place Trackside adjacent to the Up and Down Westbury Lines. It was with the onset of the Covid-19 Virus Lockdown that the nominated supplier we planned to use went in to total lockdown leaving us with no Piling Sub Contractor available to carry out the required Grundomat Piling required to construct the FTN Base.
Having known and worked alongside Piletec Geotechnical Ltd in the past a call was made to see if firstly, they were closed too. Piletec had implemented a Covid-19 Mitigation Policy that allowed them to continue to work safely and efficiently. So the
request to see if they could assist for which, the answer was yes. A quote request was issued and returned within 24 hours alongside with an on-site visit to establish the area and conditions where the works were to take place, methodology was issued and passed in a very short time allowing the project to proceed as planned. Their works were carried out as planned and even though, due to the Covid-19 Lockdown, there were supply issues for all parties involved, the Piling works were
completed on time and, on budget too. Upon completion they left the site clean and tidy and they demobilized from site the same working day. Considering the quick turnaround from them and the issues faced I would highly recommend them for all our future works
which require any Piling or Drilling operations and look forward to working with them again in the not too distant future.”

I have worked with Piletec on several schemes and would have no concerns with recommending them to others. They have always been proactive in resolving buildability issues during the design stage of schemes and then taking these agreed methodologies through to the site works.
