KING POST
King Post Walls are a versatile and economical method for constructing retaining walls, designed for ease of installation and adaptability to various project requirements. The process begins with drilling holes using methods suited to site conditions, such as auger drilling or temporary casing systems. Once the boreholes are prepared, they are filled with either concrete or grout, depending on the specific project needs, and robust H-section steel beams are installed to form the king posts.
The king posts are positioned at regular intervals—typically between 1 and 3 metres—along the proposed retaining wall line. These isolated steel columns provide the structural framework for the wall. The spaces between the posts are then filled over the retained height using a variety of infill materials, such as durable precast concrete panels or cost-effective treated timber.
King Post Walls are ideal for stabilising excavations, supporting slopes, and constructing retaining structures in applications like road and rail projects. Their modular design allows for rapid installation and easy customisation, providing a reliable and practical solution for challenging geotechnical conditions.

CONTIG WALL
Contiguous piled walls are used in dry and cohesive soils and are often the quickest and more economic method of constructing retaining walls. In certain ground conditions it may be necessary for the design to incorporate temporary props or ground anchors to provide additional lateral support to the wall.
